I do think something has been lost a bit here in the transition. There's a reason most people say to read books, watch movies, play games, in release order rather then chronological timeline order. Prequels are inherently meant to be read after whatever it is a prequel to. You have more context, more detail, and can pick up on much more that way. ALL of the GNs are adapted from novels/novellas originally written by GRRM. It's adapted from a novella. I don't know much about the Game of Thrones comics, but the case for comics in general is that a certain amount of issues from the comic series are put into a "graphic novel"/"trade paperback". So for example, issues #1-5 might be put into a Books Trying to do it in " chronological" order is messy because of all the spin off material. It was supposed to adapt A Feast For Crows (4th book) and if it didn't, AFFC would've need 2 seasons just like A Storm Of 1.A Storm of Swords. Jon's conflict and inner struggle while traveling with the Wildlings. His story from start to finish is some of the best and most satisfying in the series, especially the ending of his election as Lord Commander. Catelyn and Robb's tragic ending. Honestly, start reading the main books 1-5 (A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows, A Dance with Dragons).
